Software Hassles - How To Beat Them

Legg inn av FamilyMatters » 17 jan 2007 17:25:24

You work several years putting together a family tree, doing research
and such and building a powerful database of vital statistics, news and
lineage connections when suddenly the software goes corrupt. The
software developer folds. The data conversion limits become obsolete.
What to do? Think. What platform are most folks running thier software
from? What word processor/ text editor and correspondence is primarily
used? What Web broswer are the majority using to access the Internet.

Microsoft Windows Internet Explorer loads doc files into it's browser
and tranforms into a web research and documtation Interface. Best of
all the makers of Microsoft Word has been keeping those old faithful
Word templates useable since it's inception. Many don't realize it but
with the right templates word makes an excellent Genealogy Research and
Data Organizer and File Storage Database. Best of all when the computer
crashes files are automatically restored. And the .doc files respond
well to state of the art antivirus technology.

The key is just knowing how to use the programs. That's where genealogy
research templates come in to play. So wouldn't it make sence to build
your research interface on this platform? Utilizing the programs you
use everyday?

I suggest you take a look at http://genealogy.fimark.net and see if
this might be a better solution to your research data storage and
editing needs.
