Anyone here know where I should be looking for records from
a place called Lemforte ?? I need BMD records in the 1810-20
time period. It seems to be somewhere near Deilingen, but I
can't see anything useful at familysearch.org or worldgenweb
for Germany or at cyndislist
I admit part of the problem is, I don't speak German and I
don't know anymore about the place that what's above, so I
may be looking at right it without recognizing what I'm
seeing.

Re: Germany 1810-20 question
You could be dealing with a town that no longer exists. I can't find a
Lemforte, but I can find a Lemforde, and it's not in the same
geographical area as Deilingen. Lamforde is in Diepholz, Hannover,
Niedersachsen, so you might want to try looking in one of those areas
for more information on the town. Deilinger is in Zollernalbkreis,
Tubingen, Baden-Wurttemberg. So, again, you might want to search those
areas for any town or village that sounds or looks like Lemforte.

Don't see any nearby location to Deilingen that looks like Lemforte. May I
ask what the source of the place name is?

There is a Dehlingen, France location. Could not find a Lemforte in France,
but, there is a Lemberg location about 20 km (18 miles) northeast of
Dehlingen. Lemberg is about 8 km (5 miles) southeast of the German border.
This may not fit in with any of your collected information, but just thought
it was interesting.

Sounds French to me. I see a Belforte on this map of the border

There were probably a lot of "fortes" on the French side and
"furts" on the German side of the border.
Most of the maps I see are for 1812 or 1815 or 1820 and they all
look slightly different, so maybe towns were destroyed totally
during wars back then ?
Lemforde sure is closer in sound to Lemforte however.
Another possibility would be that the fort at Lemforte was
destroyed in a war or battle and was never rebuilt, so perhaps
the name of the city would be renamed to Lemburg or Lem***?
good luck,
Jonathan
