Surname Question

Looking for the origin/meaning of my wife's maiden name - VADINA.
Father is 100% Croatian but it is a very uncommon name for that region.
I've done extensive searching and have come up empty.

If I'm posting to the wrong forum please let me know. Thanks

OK,

VADINA is the masculine form and VADINOVA is the feminine form. It is a
SLOVAK name from what I have been able to determine with a quick google
search.

If you check this website:
http://www.cemetery.sk/english/?gr_id=100059&pid=620, there is a virtual
cemetery for Slovakia and there is a listing there of a Stefan VADINA.

You may want to join a Slovak genealogy group to get more info.

I hope that helps.

Happy Holidays!

Alida has some good suggestions. You might post your question to the news
group called soc.genealogy.slavic.

Good luck.
