Any Ideas on how to find Passengers Lists?

Legg inn av Daniel Stieger » 04 nov 2006 12:00:07

Hi

I am looking for some passengers lists (Gelria / Frisia -> Brasilia).

In 1914 / 1915 Renée Stieger emigrated to Brasilia.

Any idea on how to find such lists?

Many thanks
Dani

Re: Passenger Lists from 'SS Gelria' or 'SS Frisia'

.... meanwhile I know a bit more.

The SS Gelria (http://www.wivonet.nl/khlpag41.htm) or the SS Frisia
(http://www.wivonet.nl/khlpag46.htm) must have arrived in Rio de Janeiro in
1914/15.

In 1914/15 Renée Hortense Marcelle (Stieger-) Walckiers (from Belgium) had
still her maiden name 'Walckiers' (as she married Robert Ferdinand Stieger
only later in 1931). I do not know if Robert Ferdinand (*1902) emigrated
from Switzerland to Brasilia of if his father (Josef Robert Stieger, *1874)
had already emigrated.

As Renée Hortense Marcelle Walckiers emigrated from Belgium, I guee she
might have taken the boat somewhere from Holland (Rotterdam?).

Any further help welcome!

Dani

I've been looking at the Ancestry Immigration indexes: a lot of Belgians
departed from Le Havre in France as well as Rotterdam in Holland.

If you mean the Brasilia in Brazil, I'm not convinced it existed before
1960. The construction of Brasilia began in 1956.

Have a look at
Have a look at newspaper scan http://tinyurl.com/ymadw2.
The Koninklijke Hollandsche Lloyd sent ships to Brazil twice a month, called
Hollandia, Frisia, Zeelandia, Gelria and Tubantia.
Via http://kranten.kb.nl/index2.html you can follow all the movements of these
ships, but there are no names of passengers.
Better ask your question in soc.genealogy.benelux, maybe someone there
knows about passenger lists.

With both names 'Walckiers' and 'Stieger':

-> Não foi encontrado nenhum registro. Tente novamente.

:-( sounds somehow bad (without understanding all details)
