Ella Keirney, IA (USA), late 19th c
Can anyone help me identify Ella Keirney ?
Family papers say she married Andrew L. Harmison (b 1843, MD) in 1883 in
Iowa. I don't see an Ella Keirney/Kearney on the 1880 for Iowa and I
don't see Andrew in Iowa either (I find other Harmisons who are cousins
to him, but not him nor his mother Susannah). To complicate matters,
Susannah is said to have died in Linn Co., Oregon in 1893; Linn co has
no record of it.
Federal and State census, various histories on-line and off of assorted
counties in Iowa, Ia Genealogical Society publications, and Iowa vital
records have been consulted. Nada.

Cheryl,
Here's a list of Ell* Keirney (soundex) from ancestry for 1880. Do any of
these look like possibilities? You didn't say when or where Ella was born.
I'm heading out for the evening but I'll check before I go to bed and I can
send you images if you need them.

Hi Cheryl,
I checked the 1900 census and there is an Andrew and Ellen with a last name
that looks like it could be Harmison or Hermison. It's not a perfect match
but they are married 18 years so that puts them being married around 1882 or
1883 depending on if they had their anniversary before or after the census
was taken. They have several children. I'll list the info below and if you
want the image, I can send it.
I didn't find any Susannah Harmisons that would fit the age to be the mother
of Andrew. I didn't find any Andrew HArmison that would match up either.
I'll check on this Ellen and Andrew based on the info I found in the 1900
census and see if I can track them down that way.

Family papers say she married Andrew L. Harmison (b 1843, MD) in 1883 in
Iowa. I don't see an Ella Keirney/Kearney on the 1880 for Iowa and I
don't see Andrew in Iowa either (I find other Harmisons who are cousins to
him, but not him nor his mother Susannah).
Here is the only possible connection I can find thus far:

Federal and State census, various histories on-line and off of assorted
counties in Iowa, Ia Genealogical Society publications, and Iowa vital
records have been consulted. Nada.

Cheryl,
Have you checked http://www.familyserach.org? They have a record that shows Andrew
and Ella married before 1865 in MD and there is an Ella Keirney born about
1845 in the same part of MD as Andrew.
I'll see if this helps any and let you know what I find.

I sent you an image from the 1850 census for Andrew and his mother. Susan
is living with her mother Susan Cresap, her son Andrew and a daughter Laura
and I guess Susan's sister Elizabeth Cresap age 17. I think I mistakenly
said that Elizabeth was Andrew's sister in the email I sent to you offlist.
Anyway, I'll see if I can keep tracking these people and maybe it will help
with Ella.

I believe this is Susan Harmison in the 1880 Washington Co, IA census. She's
living by herself. There's no sign of Andrew. Ancestry has a Cresap Family
History. It says that Susannah Harmison was living in Washington Co, IA in
1882.
