I've posted a request for information/census images on Michael Neville
before, but I have some new information. Michael Neville was born in 1860.
His parents were Patrick Neville, and Mary Flannigan. Michael is now known
to have been in Buffalo, New York and served as a Buffalo Firefighter. He
came from Northern Ireland, probably Limerick County. It is unknown if his
parents came with him, but what I would like is the 1860, 1870, and 1880
Census images for this family in Buffalo, if they exist. I don't know any
the names of Michael's brothers and sisters. Michael came to Detoit
sometime prior to 1887 and served as a Detroit Firefighter until
Tuberculosis took him in April 1893.
As always, thank you very much for our time and help.

Re: New information about Michael Neville
I found some Michael Neville's in the New York Passengers List at
ancestry.com, and one looks promising - he's the right age and coming to
the U.S. with his widowed mother, Mary (there's a line through her age,
and I can't make out what it is). This is in 1871. Problem is, he's
not around in the 1880 Census for Buffalo. There is a Michael Neville
from Ireland in that census, but he's got a birth year of 1815 (he's the
only Michael Neville in Erie County as well).
Sorry that I couldn't have turned up anything more definite for you.

Re: New information about Michael Neville
No problem at all, thanks for putting in the effort. I was sent this
fantastic article/obit that the historian at the Detroit Fireman's Fund
Association had in his files, along with some other information. The
wording of the article is wonderful. If interested in reading it, let me
know and I'll send it to you. Currently I'm trying to contact the Buffalo
Fire History Museum to see if they have Michael on record as well.
Hopefully they'll have some more information on him. Mike S. already sent
me the passenger list for the "Italy". That looks like the right Michael to
me, but I can't be 100% sure.

Re: New information about Michael Neville
The "Italy" is the ship from the 1871 immigration. The age is right,
the mother's name is right...there's just no sign of him or of them in
1880, though. Could be that the name was mangled, or Mary wed a second
time in New York state and Michael is listed under his step-father's
surname (I've seen that happen more than once).
I'd love to see the transcription of the article - that was good of that
historian to send that along to you. My e-mail is a good one, and not a
spam preventer.
Thanks,
Cathy

Re: New information about Michael Neville
Yeah, that happened in my family as well. My 3rd Great Grandfather, Peter
Anton Doemer died in 1865 and by the 1870 Census his wife Anna had remarried
a William Springmann. They listed all of Anna & Peter's children under the
name of Springmann. Some kind soul figured it out finally.
