My wife is currently researching her family history, and has asked me to
post the following query:

"I have a direct ancestor, John Worthington, born 1647 in Newton Regis,
Warwickshire, one of whose descendants is a Thomas Worthington born in
1737. Is he anything to do with the brewery?

My Worthington married into the Hears family, and Joseph Hear of the Old
Anchor, Appleby Parva, lived around 1750-1800. The Hears were also
connected with The Black Horse at Appleby Magna. Both these Applebys are
in Leicestershire, and most of my relatives come from the area where the
four counties of Warwickshire, Staffordshire, Derbyshire and
Leicestershire meet.

Another relation, Sarah Jane Bowley, married a Walter Vernon Garrett in
1873 - he was, according to hearsay, also in the brewing industry. They
had five children - Alfred, Bert, Mabel, Maud and Frank."

She has been advised to contact the Coors Museum Archives at Burton upon
Trent, as the are inheritors of the Worthington brand, but any
information from subscribers to these newsgroups would be appreciated.

Established by William Worthington born 1723. The dates for your Thomas make
it unlikely he is a brother but still possible....
