I'm looking for family/birth details of Gladys Nellie/Eileen/Ellen
Gad(d) who married Francis Herbert Dale (Tom) in Croydon 1931. Both of
these people are deceased and are directly related.
Gladys was also known pre marriage as Gladys Miles.
Searching names - Gad(d), Miles, Dale, Baldwin, Davey, Rhodes, Parker
thanks Yvette

Where is Croydon? And do you know if she was born and/or raised there?

Thanks,
Cathy

You would be better asking in soc.genealogy.britain (presuming you mean

Croydon in England) BUT lurk for a while and watch how things are done
there; they are not noted for tolerance.

What, if anything, have you done to locate her ? Have you got the
marriage certificate, which would give you her father's name? Have you
looked for her birth in the GRO indexes ? If not, you can access them
at http://www.1837online.com (pay site) or Ancestry.com
http://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/rectyp ... d/bmd.aspx
You have to register, but it's free.

It's much more fun to do your own research!

In 1931 in Surrey, now on the southern edge of Greater London, see:-

unless the OP (who is posting from .au) is referring to the other
Croydon in Oz, in which case it is in Queensland, see:-

Croydon, UK. Have been doing own research for quite a few years,
although family circumstances make it all really slow. Ms Gadd's
marriage is in the free bdm, but there is a prob in obtaining
certificate. thus cant get father's name. I think she was born 1909
Epsom, October Qtr, but fathers name isn't entered on records at this
date.
I don't always have lots of time in one session to devote, but have
have lurked about the soc. gen. brit. and had lots of comunication
with o/seas Gad(d)s (they are prolific) through various other means.
thanks

There's also a Croydon, New Hampshire, a Croyden, Jamaica, and might
even be others than the ones already mentioned. Not to be mean, but if
a person is asking for assistance, then they should put a state (and
county) or in this case, country, along with the name of the town, and
not just assume that everyone will automatically know where they mean.

Yvette NSW: What? say again?

You have a 1909 birth certificate and no father is listed?
Or you have just looked at the indexes online?
There are certainly father's names listed on the birth certs, but you
have to pay to get them. Only an extremely generous soul (a cut above
a SKS!) would do this, or someone who already has the person in their
line and has the cert.
