Genes Reunited is currently banning members. Think twice before signing

Genes Reunited have temporarily suspended all activity on the board
while they sort all the posts out and make time to answer genuine
queries from genuine researchers.

And how is that going to be done when they have banned the genuine
people for life?

Genes Reunited have just suspended ALL new posts to their message
boards - effectively shutting the site down.

This is following their decision to ban genuinely helpful members who
tried to respond to an enquiry with some good FREE advice. They have
now banned (for Life!) their most helpful and productive members and
have suspended others without any good reasons.

I just don't understand what GR are hoping to achieve. I think the only
thing they're doing is winding it's members up, they're stopping those
who want to help & be helped with their research!

Im appalled they seem to have banned the most helpful people on site (
exception many others have also helped me on my way). Over the last few
months I am astounded by the so called actions that gr have taken. I
for one will be joinging new site as soon as it is up and running they

I know several of you are not very familiar with Usenet groups.
[alt.genealogy is one of thousands of such groups.]

In order to practice posting stuff and reading stuff try going to one
of the test groups, aus.test, for example. You can have a fun time
posting all sorts of stuff there and get confident with the process.
No one will moan at you if you get it a bit wrong :)

Ah - just sussed out how to post on here - lol

Got onto laptop about 8ish tonight and I'm gobsmacked by what has
happened today - had to fone Maid Marion to actually check what I was
reading.

GR really have dropped a major ******* this time!!!

Is this going to be left as is?
I have mailed them to say that they have it wrong and they are now the
bullies in all this - I for one will not use my time and money that I
spend subscribing to ancestry etc to help on tips or records boards as
I may also be taken the wrong way and suspended by GR

How dare they also say on there tonight that they are helping members
with their research - WHEN HAVE GR EVER HELPED?? is it not the fee
paying members who give help and advice, is it not those that have been
banned/suspended??

I'm really annoyed by GR and their current heavy handed tacktics

So to those who are thinking of joining don't bother with GR

Joanne

If you look at the garbage posted on their message boards, you'll see

why they've suspended posts. People were using them as a trivia chat

I fear you may be right :((

They'd be better off in Rootschat where they can chatter away to their
hearts content without upsetting more serious researchers.

Still since they'll all stay together, it'll be easy enough to
identify and killfile them if they get to be too irritating.

for one will be joinging new site as soon as it is up and running they
GR can go and swizzle,

This site is suddenly gaining in membership LOL!

New site up and running http://www.genealogistsxgr.co.uk/
