Sven,

I could not copy and send the enlarged manifest. You can go to the site
yourself, register for free, and do the search yourself. Maybe someone else
can do a copy, but I am unable to do so. The function is disabled.

Sven,

You can also do this search yourself as well. Ellis Island site is at

You can enable the function. It is a javascript setting. The workaround is
available at
http://www.semanchuk.com/gen/methods/Sa ... fests.html .

Hi,

Appreciate your info on the workaround for the Ellis Island site on the
manifests.

I have a similar problem when I look up data on the site for the Berlin
address books. I can pull up the address book page by page, but it is in a
separate little block on the screen, and you can't copy it. I would
appreciate knowing if you can do a similar workaround on that.

Here is the site - http://adressbuch.zlb.de/

I don't mean for you to go to a lot of trouble, but if you could check the
site, do a lookup for Pesarra in 1928, as an example, and see if you can do
the workaround, I would appreciate it. If you would rather not do this, let
me know, and I will try it myself, using the directions you pointed to on
the Internet. I do have Explorer, which is not the best, according to the
info.

Thanks.

Joe

Hi Joe...

I tried the site - didn't know what I was doing but did get
some images of something.... here's what I did.... not a
really pretty way to do things but certainly it works.

When you have the image as you like it on your screen hit
the "print screen button" - this copies what ever is on your
screen to the clipboard - then use your favorite
photoediting software - paint, photofiltre, adobe - etc to
paste the image - , (or use windows clipboard viewer
program) save the file in whatever format you like and crop
etc...

take care
Liz

Liz,

Thank you very much. This worked for me perfectly. I used ALT-Print
Screen. Pulled up my Microsoft Word, hit Edit, then Paste. Worked like a
charm. Ellis Island site works the same way. Home free! I owe you big
time.

Sent this reply direct, but not sure your address above is okay. So here it
is again to the group.

Not too good at reading the old German script. It depends on how precise a
writer was. We had a lot of old German letters to my grandmother sent from
Germany. Had to get an older German friend of the family in Germany to
translate for us into modern German. Then had that translated into English.
My German consists of two years at the university in 1950-51, and some night
classes at a Goether Institute in Houston, Texas in 1960's, right before our
first trip to Germany to visit distant relatives. It got me by, but just
barely.

If you can send me a copy of one of your records, I will make a stab at it.
