New Additions to Genealogy in Hertfordshire Web Site

Legg inn av Chris » 27 aug 2006 17:13:30

I have just posted the September newsletter on the Genealogy in
Hertfordshire web site (at http://www.hertfordshire-genealogy.co.uk), which now
contains over 2000 pages of information and pictures on the county and its
former inhabitants.

In addition to the usual monthly batch of answers to readers questions there
are a large number of additional postcard views from the early part of the
20th century, news from 19th century newspapers, book reviews and much more.

There are a series of approximately 100 year old pictures of a girl's school
from the Hitchin area - and if anyone can identify the school - and any of
the pupils I would be very grateful.

In addition there is an old car (1920s era?) pictured in the newsletter on
the London to Cambridge road at Colliers End - and I would love to know the
make, model and approximate date of production. The registration number is
PU (5?8?9?)062 which may be a clue - or perhaps it belonged to your
ancestor!

The web site Genealogy in Hertfordshire, at
http://www.hertfordshire-genealogy.co.uk, provides free help for people who
are researching their Hertfordshire ancestors, or researching other aspects
of Hertfordshire history. If you have found the site useful, or received a
satisfactory answer to your question, perhaps you could consider making a
donation to Mind (a UK-based mental health charity, http://www.mind.org.uk) or to
the equivalent charity in the area where you live.
