Baltic & Scandinavian genealogy

Legg inn av Steve Hayes » 28 feb 2006 07:16:02

A cousin has written to me -- he is new to genealogy by said his father was
born in Riga, Latvia, in 1901, of a Swedish father and a Prussian mother. His
grandfather and uncle were killed in the Russian revolution, but nis father
and grandmother fled across Siberia to China, where his father married a New
Zealand girl (who is related to my wife).

Does anyone have any suggestions for resources for him to begin his search?
Useful mailing lists, etc?

I'll suggest things like Cyndi's list, but if anyone has any other
suggestions, it would be useful to know.

I'm sure it does, but for someone who only has a Swedish grandfather but
doesn't speak Swedish, there's a bit of as difficulty :-)

But that one might help him to get started!

Thanks!
