1820 STATE census for Illinois

Legg inn av singhals » 26 jan 2006 17:58:02

Can anyone tell me anything about a census taken in Illinois in 1820
for the STATE? The reference identifies a man from the 1818
pre-statehood census and marks him as also present in the 1820 state
census and the 1820 federal census, which implies to me that these
are separate census.

My question is, is the STATE version more detailed in any way?

Thanks.

Illinois has some online information that goes into some detail
about the state censuses and their availability:

Per State Census Records by Ann S. Lainhart the Illinois State
census was similar to the Federal census in that only the head of
household is listed by name and the rest of the members of the
household in age categories from 1820 through 1845.
