Which country??

There's a Brixton Prison in London, England. Is that the one you
mean??

Since it's a comparatively recent event, you may not be able to access
any details because they'll be subject to a closure order but that
will depend on which country you are talking about.

If you're talking about England then you might get more information
from the newspapers, depending of the reasons for the imprisonment.

It's not clear from the headers where you are. You have a .uk email
address but have a -7hr time difference which suggests North America.
If you are in the UK, if you visit any main library, they should have
indexes/indices to The Times going back that far so you could look up
the name. They should also have copies of the newspaper on microfilm
as well.

I used that method when researching someone who was imprisoned in the
1970s and who also had a commonly occurring name.

Dear Charani

thanks for you post, I am in the uk. I have written to the prison -
awaiting a reply, this person was also in an ayslum either before or
after being in brixton. I am writing to the ayslum (hospital as now
is) via the local PCT to see if they have any records that can be
viewed.

If you don't get any joy from either the prison or the hospital then
try posting in soc.genealogy.britain with the name of the person and
what else you know about him. The more information, the easier it is
to help.

Some of them do post/lurk here but not all of them. They're usually
pretty good at finding missing people.
