Can anyone tell me which is the correct method of nameing a place of death.
My Grandfather was living in a small town when he became ill and died in
the hospital in a nearby city. Which would I list as the place of death?
Anyone?

Re: Death Location
My first thought would be to use the same location that's listed on the
death certificate. If that is where the hospital is located, then in my
notes I'd put the name of the town where he lived (and the county, if
the hospital was in a different county than the town).

Re: Death Location
I have a field to enter place of death hut I can also have another field for
resided. I use that to record residence in census, marriage, birth and death
certificate - wherever it is stated. To me place of death is place of
death - otherwise people might think he died at home and that is not true.

Re: Death Location
I put the name of the town in which they died. I use FTM and list as a
fact "Residence at Death" which clarifies everything.

Where his house was at death was his residence.
Unless a person dies at home, I list both (if known).

RE:Death Location
Everyone seems to agree. Have to admit, makes perfect sense. Sounds like a
dumb question now.Sorry took so long to get back. Just my luck. Post a
question and then have to leave town <g>
Thanks you everyone
