I could get away with it because it's an uncommon surname. Do a lookup on
"Blandin". Jonathan Blandin(1753-1849) and Submit (Cook) Blandin(1768-1851)
were my 3g-grandparents. Francis & Lamech Blandin there are the relatives
and brothers of Jonathan.

Rick,
Are you referring to Elijah Barrett? I too am a descendant of Elijah's.
What info does it give on him?
I've never heard of or used Heritage Quest before. How does it work? Is
there a subscription fee?
Thanks,
Alida

You don't suppose the OP of "both sides" ment to refer
to both sides of the person's lineage? This is after all
a genealogical forum (not a war forum, I hope).
But this feature gives Very Little Information and is not
useful as a tool, just as an end result and confirmation of
participation in the war for the freedom of America.

No, Cecelia was asking if it had British participants as well as
Colonials/Patriots/Americans. I chose to point out that in any conflict
there's only one side: The right one, a title both armies claim for

I must say, it would be nice if someone would put up a site with British
and mercenary participants.

Yes & no. I've always appreciated any little snippet of that hard to
find old New England information. Suppose that I hadn't already known
the name of the wife of my Jonathan Blandin. At least I would now have a
given-name to follow through on and I have an additional Source telling
me what her name was. You can search by given and/or surname or you can
leave both blank and simply browse through a state and perhaps
selectively display which particular service was involved: Continental
Army, Artillery, War of 1812, etc etc. Every little bit helps.

Definitely. I didn't intend to be negative, just to slightly lower the

My father was named after his revolutionary war ancestor. A decade ago
I discovered that that ancestor's wife was a descendant of Gov.
Bradford, and I was able to prove my connection to the genealogy general
of the M.S.M.D. My father was K.I.A. in WWII and this memorial day his
name and rank will be added to a war memorial.
