Charleston SC passenger lists

Are there any passenger lists for Charleston, South Carolina on microfilm,
other than the 1800-1829 range that the FHL seems to have?

My people came from Germany to Charleston in 1840, which wouldn't be within
the time period covered. They *may* have come through Baltimore or NYC
first, which would be helpful if so, but I don't have any verification and
will need to poke around to find them.

Are there other resources I could use for the 1840-50 time period?

Have you looked at the USGenweb site to see what they might have? they lead
to: http://sciway3.net/proctor/state/SC_ships.html among other things and I
don't know if you've seen that one.

That's very helpful, thanks---I hadn't run across this site. The category
of miscellaneous Atlantic ports might be a good resource.
