I'm trying to locate information on my great grandmother, Signe Helfrida
Andersdotter (Anderson) from Varsjö, Sweden, immigrated to North America
onboard the "Olympia" in 1913. I have a photo of her on the ship with some
friends/family - I do not know any of the people she is with.
Apparently she lived for awhile in the Chicago area working as a maid for a
banker with the last name "Greenbaum". I don't know how long she worked for
the family.
She married my great grandfather Oscar Nilsson (Nelson) in 1918. My
grandmother says they were married in Winnipeg, Manitoba on April 11, 1918,
but I'm unable to locate a marriage record for them as yet.
They eventually settled in Yorkton, Saskatchewan where their 5 children were
born.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Brenda

Ask if someone can make a lookup on the emigration CD. They might be able give the list of people on the ship from the same area in Sweden. I don't know if they can give you all of the people on that ship.
Have you found any information from Sweden? There are several sites they I can give that might help. If you want them please email me at: pcsprague@silverspringsonline.com
Good luck,

Re: Immigration lookup
Hi Lorine,
That would be about right. What I have is a photo
with her handwriting on it. It looks like it says "Olympia" but
very well could be "Olympic".
I've been in touch with a fellow from Göteborg, Sweden
who found her on a passenger list departing from Göteborg
on March 28, 1913.
Can you tell me where you found this information. Can I
access it as well?

Could she have come on the Olympic and not the Olympia?
There is a Signa Andersson age 24 from Sweden arriving in
NY on April 09, 1913 on board the Olympic. How old was
your g grandmother when she came in 1913?

Hello Brenda,
Yes you can access this for free at
http://www.stevemorse.org/
It's the Ellis Island online database but I use Steve's One-
Step Search Engines to search it.
You can view the actual manifest online too
