See http://www.gensmarts.com/ It's not part of FTM and works with Family
Tree Maker, PAF, Legacy, TMG, RootsMagic, Ancestral Quest, and Ancestry
Family Tree. I haven't tried it but have read some feedback by others who
have and they seem to like it a lot.

Re: req Family Tree Maker 2005 with GenSmarts
I use GenSmarts. Tried the shareware program and liked it so much, I
purchased the full version within a day of starting to use it.
It goes through your genealogy file and generates suggestions for further
research. If you have subscriptions to the various genealogy sites, you can
directly access the suggestions from within GenSmarts.
It generates tons of suggestions, some of which you likely have already
searched. But, the suggestions it generated for me resulted in my being
able to find many connections for my wife's side of the family tree. This
has been a God-Send as I had little information about that side of the
family to start. Now, I am back to the late 1700s - early 1800s.
I am not affiliated with GenSmarts in any way. I am just one happy darn
happy customer!!!!!

Can you elaborate a little bit? What sort of suggestions does it generate?

Re: req Family Tree Maker 2005 with GenSmarts
The version that can be purchased through genealogy.com will only work with
FTM products. I contacted GenSmarts and am pasting my email to them and
their response to me:
"The trial version is for the version of GenSmarts we sell from
GenSmarts.com, not "GenSmarts For MyFamily.com" sold through
Genealogy.com/Ancestry.com.
Yes, the versions are different. The short answer is "GenSmarts For
MyFamily.com" is not downloadable and only works with Family Tree Maker,
whereas the full edition we sell from GenSmarts.com works with Family Tree
Maker and a bunch of other file types as well. Because the full edition is
downloadable, users can download the latest build we're working on at any
time from GenSmarts.com, rather than waiting for us to release the next
update.
Godfrey changed their website since the release of "GenSmarts For
MyFamily.com" 1.0.7.4, so you'll need to wait for the update to 1.0.8 when
we'll add support for their new site. Normally we don't have to actually
update the software to deal with website changes, but the change Godfrey
made was rather drastic... The changes are already complete and in the
latest build of the full edition (
http://www.GenSmarts.com/versionHistory.asp ), so should just be a few more
weeks more before we get them out in the form of a "GenSmarts For
MyFamily.com" update.

I have a support issue with GenSmarts. (describe your question)
I purchased GenSmarts through genealogy.com and installed the program
today. I cannot find the link for using Godfrey Memorial Library as was on
the trial version that I downloaded from your website prior to the purchase
through genealogy.com. Their support people were of no assistance to me and
said I needed to contact you.
Is the version that I purchased from them different from the one I can
purchase from you? If not, would you please instruct me in connecting my
Godfrey Memorial Library subscription.
Thank you,
Lisa"
