ancestry census search question
Hi,
Maybe someone can help me in my frustration here. I know a page number I
need from Washington State in the 1910 census. I go there to do a page by
page search but the page number that I need is just not there. The district
is 113, page 253A in Klickitat County, Cliff's township. Looking for a Ruth
Marshall, age 14, but can't find her for the life of me. There are only 5
pages in Cliff's twp. that are available. Is there a way to go "beyond" in
a numerical progression rather than trying to figure out in which Twp. the
rest of District 113 is? I did a few more at random and even though it says
(example) district 114 it is indeed 113. Could I possibly be getting the
incorrect images because I just downloaded the newest viewer? Which, BTW is
nice. I like the new format but wonder if it somehow compromised the image
numbering.
Thanks,
Nutty

But how do I find page 253A? When I browse Ancestry it simply is not there.
Are you using the new viewer they just offered? Nutty

OK, now I am really freaking out. I did a search for Emma Marshall, found
her in the index, then clicked on it and there is a blank page. Something
really is nutty here. Just wondering if downloading the new image viewer
caused this. Do you know? Nutty

I can't find page 253A in that county/precinct listing, either. And
when I do a direct lookup for Emma Marshall, and click to be taken to
the page with her listing, all I get is a blank census page (page 248B,
apparently).
I finally found them by checking each of the precincts/cities for that
county, and found page 253A under Columbus Pct, which also includes
district 113 and Cliff's Precinct. Since the page clearly states that
it's Cliff's Precinct, then I'd say that whoever indexed this census for
ancestry screwed up.

Thanks Cathy,
Do you know if they have a way for you to just search for a page without
having to go through the twp. first? It seems like it must be there but I
am not seeing it.
I have also been trying to get help from Ancestry on how to go back to my
old viewer. I get a standard answer that they will have to look into this
matter in the future but I should write to them at their Utah address ...
not email address, but snail mail! Can you believe it?

Ancestry.com is not set up to use any browsers other than MS Internet
Explorer and Netscape. If you are using anything else (i.e. Firefox etc)
you will not see any census images.
