William Thomas Turner and Josie Burrer Information Sought

Legg inn av John Nichols » 13 mar 2005 02:25:51

I am looking for information on my great-grandparents, William Thomas Turner
and Josie Burrer.

This is what I know about them:

In April 1930 they were living on Harris Creek Road in Springfield, Monroe,
West Virginia. William was working as a miner for a coal mine. He was born
circa 1883 in Virginia. His father was born in Virginia, his mother was
born in West Virginia. William also went by "Will" as his first name, and
in the 1930 census is listed as "william t."

Josie was born circa 1884 in West Virginia. Both of her parents were born
in West Virginia.

In 1930 they had been married approximately 15 years.

William Thomas Turner and Josie Burrer had the following children:

Lillie Turner, my grandmother, who was born 29 Sep 1911 in Metalton,
Raleigh, West Virginia and married on 30 November 1930 in Summit, West
Virginia to William Omar BOONE.

a possible daughter named Cellie, born about 1916. (She may actually be my
grandmother, Lillie, and the first letter of her name in the 1930 census is
somewhat unreadable and the second digit of her age is not clear.

George, birth date unknown, but possibly after 1930.
Daily, birth date unknown, but possibly after 1930.
Milliard or Millard, born around 1919
Henry, born about October 1925
Rose I., born about June 1928.

I am specifically looking the date and location of William and Josie's
marriage, when they died, their birth dates, birth location, and the names
of their parents. Any information on their children would also be
appreciated, as would any other possible on William and Josie.

Thank you,

John Nichols

John,

I had a look at the 1930 census image and it looks to me like the census
taker started writing Milliard on the line below Josie and then wrote Lillie
over top of Milliard. It also looks like her age is 17 which would put her
year of birth around 1913 according to this census.

Also, just a note, Rose's middle initial looks like a J to me but it's just
very faint. You can just barely see a line coming down right above the n in
Andrew of the next line. Click on the quality button on the right hand side
if you're using ancestry.com to view the census.

Good luck with your research,
Alida

Thanks, Alida. That would explain Cellie. It does raise some other
questions that I'm not going to be able to answer until I nail down William
and Josie's marriage date.
