Mr. Winfred Eugene LUTZ - grave
I am trying to locate the cemetery and grave for Mr. Winfred (Winnie)
Eugene LUTZ.
He lived much of his life in Minneapolis, Hennepin county, Minnesota. I
was told by an elderly relative that he moved to a small town in
Minnesota (Lived in California off and on--Alameda county) where he
retired and perhaps died.
Born: 13-Nov-1912 in Melrose, Benton county, Minnesota
Died: ??-Jan-1966 in ??? (Perhaps Hennepin county)
Was WWII veteran in the U.S. Army. Not buried at Lakewood Cemetery nor
at Fort Snelling Cemetery in Minneapolis, Hennepin county, Minnesota.
Divorced and son is deceased, age 10 in Alameda county, California in 1946.
I have name of ex-wife (deceased) and son.
Does anyone know of a list of cemeteries in Minnesota?
Thanks for any assistance you can provide me.

I didn't find him in the California or Minnesota death indexes. The
SSDI does not list where he died. The SSDI lists his name as "Winifred".

Yesterday, I tried to get a death certificate at Hennepin county, MN but
the clerk said it would really help to have the complete date of
death. He spent 10-15 minutes searching but didn't complete all the
January, 1966 records.
I then got home and realized that back in 1999 when I got his birth
certificate, that I also have a certified statement that there is no
record of his death in the STATE of MINNESOTA from 1962-1969. This
was from the State Dept., a location that no longer exists. I forgot
that I tried to get a death certificate for him in 1999.
I spent a lot of time last night again, searching the CA Death Index,
Veteran Cemeteries, as he was a WWII veteran, having served in the U.S.
Army.
I was trying to think who the informant on Winfred's death certificate
might have been. That clue might help me.
His mother died in Hennepin county, MN in 1969 and I know where she is
buried. Her informant was the "mortuary records" w/ address. The
funeral home where her arrangements were made is no longer in business.
Where would a person go to inquire about that funeral home's records?
a nearby one?
I wish there was a national cemetery database or soem complete state ones.
I really don't know who would have taken care of his arrangements except
his mother and I don't know whether or not she was in (died Jan 30, 1969)
Thanks. Hope I can find "some" information someday.

Yes, that is what I have noticed, too, that the SSDI lists him as
Winifred, but it is misspelled.
Yesterday, I tried to get a death certificate at Hennepin county, MN but
the clerk said it would really help to have the complete date of death.
He spent 10-15 minutes searching but didn't complete all the January,
1966 records.
I then got home and realized that back in 1999 when I got his birth
certificate, that I also have a certified statement that there is no
record of his death in the STATE of MINNESOTA from 1962-1969. This was
from the State Dept., a location that no longer exists. I forgot that I
tried to get a death certificate for him in 1999.
Where would a person go to inquire about that funeral home's
records--a nearby one?
I wish there was a national cemetery database or some complete state ones.
I really don't know who would have taken care of his arrangements except

record of his death in the STATE of MINNESOTA from 1962-1969.
This was
from the State Dept., a location that no longer exists. I
forgot that I
tried to get a death certificate for him in 1999.
I spent a lot of time last night again, searching the CA Death
Index,
Veteran Cemeteries, as he was a WWII veteran, having served in
the U.S.
Army.
I was trying to think who the informant on Winfred's death
certificate
might have been. That clue might help me.
His mother died in Hennepin county, MN in 1969 and I know where
she is
buried. Her informant was the "mortuary records" w/ address. The
funeral home where her arrangements were made is no longer in
business.
Where would a person go to inquire about that funeral home's
records--a nearby one?
I wish there was a national cemetery database or some complete
state ones.
I really don't know who would have taken care of his
arrangements except
his mother and I don't know whether or not she was in good
health in
1966 to do so (She died Jan 30, 1969).
Thanks. Hope I can find "some" information someday.
Lani
Even if Winfred Lutz did not die in Hennepin County, MN in 1966
I wonder if
his mother had his obituary or death notice published in a local
newspaper.
Hey, that's an idea.
I can go to the Minnesota Historical Society and search for his
obituary.
Thanks for the very helpful suggestion.
Lani
Yes. Do you have additional information on anything?
Lani
Norman,
Thank you. I have also found those recently. Up to a few days ago, I
never knew his wife's name nor his son's name and dates of birth and
death.
I was so elated when I found the information about the son, thinking I
could call him if he were still living. Then I read the death date.
I had heard that, at birth, something was wrong with him, although he
appears fine in the photo I describe below.
I have a photo of both Leona and David. I don't know if he had any
other children, but rather doubt it. It has no date, but I believe it
to be in the 1940s. I came across an address for them in probably the
1930 census. It is local for me, in Hennepin county, so I will go
there to see the house. The house is included in the photo I have too
(assuming it is the same one).
Thanks again,
Lani
Lani, you can get the son's death certificate from Alameda Co. to find
where he was buried. Usually if a son dies before the parents, he is
buried in a cemetery with other family members or was buried where he
died and remains moved after a parent dies to be buried together. If you
find out where he was buried I can call them and see what they say. I
live in Alameda Co. and have tracked a number of relatives through death
certificate. One was moved to KY. Child died & buried in Alameda Co.,
then parent died and all were buried in family cemetery in KY.

Hello Laurie,
I just sent you a message.
I received the death certificate today from Alameda county.
David Eugene LUTZ age 10 was buried at MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY in
Oakland?, CA. The family resided in San Leandro, however, so there is a
possiblilty it could be there. The funeral home address was Oakland 9,
California.
Again, I am trying to locate the cemetery and grave site for his father,
Mr. Winfred Eugene LUTZ who died in January, 1966 (date unknown; place
unknown).
David's parents were divorced. His mother's name was Leona Klobnak or
Klovnak.
Thank you,
Lani Covey
