searching maiden names

Legg inn av Barbara » 28 feb 2005 02:28:24

I am searching for information on a Juanita Keen who married a Corley. He
was from Georgia. Have been able to find out some info on the married side
of the picture, but cannot seem to follow up on the maiden name side. Any
tips appreciated. Thanks, Barb

Maiden names can be tough, because sometimes it turns out to be a surname
from a previous marraige, and not the maiden name at all.

I've had a great deal of luck searching the census, provided I also have
a year of birth. Just tonight I've been tracing my GGGgrandmother this
way. GGGgrandpa the oysterman married the daughter of his ship's
carpenter.

I think she came from Florida but am not even sure of that much. The Corley
she married was from Georgia. I do not have a birth date on her yet. Had not
thought about the fact she could have been married before as was under the
impression she was quite young when she ran away and got married.

How about a vague idea of her birthdate??? Any dates of people around
her?

Thank you all for the information. I found some mention on a genealogical
site that suggests she married Artis around 1941 but cannot confirm that
info. She would have been in her teens when she married, I believe. He is
buried in a VA cemetary in Oregon.
Norman, where did you find the info on the children? Thanks, Barb
