Resource for NW. London shop names? Kelly's?

Legg inn av Geoff » 27 feb 2005 13:50:02

Hello there.

I'm researching locations that were used for a TV show. I'm looking to find
the address of a place called "Arthur's Cut Price Store" which I think is in
Kingsbury, around 1978, and it has a shop (of unknown category) called
Aquarius next door. It might be Kingsbury Road, but the lay of the land
looks slightly wrong.

I've noted that this group has spoken of Kelly's London directories, but
reading between the lines, this wouldn't cover as far out as
Kingsbury/Kenton/Harrow - or would it for these later editions? I'd lay my
hands on a copy if it does, because it would be very useful!

Many thanks for any information,

Geoff Phillips.

Kingsbury has a London post code. Kenton and Harrow are in Greater
London.

Not before 1889 they weren't

My 1848 certainly does not go to Kingsbury, Kenton or Harrow

The OP said 1978 not 1878 :)) If he made a typo then, yes, you are
right. If he didn't, I'm right. I can only go on what was in the
post :))

No, 1978 is right!

OK :))

I *think* the directories would be the Post Office Directory. I don't
think Kelly's are still around, but I could be wrong. It's the 19th
Century ones I tend to look at.

What was the name of the TV show you were watching??
