When viewing a document, to the right it provides for you to email the
document to a friend. As a test, I emailed the document to myself to see
what it would look like in an email format. This has been several hours
ago. Has anyone had success with this function, does it not work, or am I
misreading, and doing something wrong?

I had one of those emailed to me a couple of days ago. After retrieving it
from my Trash which is where my filters put anything sent by Ancestry because
of their constant spam, I opened it in my default Firefox browser. The portion
of the image that I and the other person were interested in was not in view
and any attempt to use the onscreen controls to view it immediately brought up
another full page which contained nothing but advertisements for Ancestry.com.
Opening it in Mozilla brought similar results.
I then tried MSIE and was able to use the controls, but the viewable space was
of this rectangular outline on the real page. I contrast that to the HQ census
pages where the whole page is navigible with the standard scroll bars. Even
then, clicking on Save brought no results except the page of advertisements.
It's clear to me that it is yet another trick means to advertise. Email the
image! It works muich better that way.

Re: Ancestry.com Email
Thanks for the replies. I figured it was a gimmick of some sort for
advertising. Since I was logged on, and they knew I wasn't going to buy
anything, then they saved bandwidth for someone else. Like others, my Spam
catcher gets rid of their advertising. However, they nickel and dime you
for all they think your worth. Have a good day!

Bob et al,

The email contains a link to the page with a time limit, you don't even see the
link if your email client is set to read mail in "plain text only"

Cedric.
