Help with Family Tree Maker

Legg inn av Ephraim » 17 jan 2005 23:12:48

I just found that I entered a female child and all her details in the
"Husband" field & its related fields. I put her hubby stuff in the "Wife"
fields. I had already added their kids & spouses.

How can I fix this without deleting and re-entering the info?
Thank you,
Ephraim

You really just need to change the gender of each spouse by going to
their parents' page where they would be listed as a child.

Change the relationship to "friends" or "partners" before doing the
gender changes, after which time you make them "married" again, because
otherwise, after the first gender change, you will have two same-sex
people and FTM won't accept that (my version won't anyway)

If that doesn't work:

First you need to disconnect the couple (this will delete any marriage
info you may have entered.)

select People -> fix relationship mistakes -> detach spouse.

Second, find each person in your files and correct the gender.

Third, while on the page of one spouse, go to People -> fix relationship
mistakes -> attach spouse and find the spouse you want to attach in your
list.

Yes I'm new to Family Tree Maker 2005 and just got started working on my

family history. Sure enough I made some mistakes and thought I'd have to
delete and re-enter. I used the help which took me this way and everything
turned out just great.
