Can I publish some form of FTM to my own Internet domain via the program. Must I
use the FTM web site? I would like to publish an interactive web site of the
data collected with FTM.

I'm not familiar with Family Tree Maker, but if it
can export a GEDCOM file (I'm sure it can), you
can make family sheets with for instance Gedpage
or GedHTree.

You can always get your own place at Rootsweb's
Freepages:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/
or upload the HTML files to your own domain.
If you want something really interactive, take a
look at GeneaNet (my database, click on the
GeneaNet logo in the top left corner):
