I just got ancestry.com and looked up Jacob Mills in the 1850 census. Well,
I found a possible candidate but he was the last person on the page. When
advancing to the next page it is "not" truly the next page. The house
numbers show that a page was missed. I was wondering if someone with
another subscription could please look this one up. That is to say, here is
the page I have with Jacob Mills as the last name. I need the following
page that would show the rest of his family. Name: Jacob Mills
Age: 30
Estimated birth year: abt 1820
Gender: Male
Home in 1850
(City,County,State): Wallkill, Orange, New York
Page: 83
Roll: M432_574
Please send image with "nospam" taken out of my email address.
Many thanks,
Nancy

Nancy,
Jacob Mills is image 48 of 120. Go to image 51 of 120 and you will find the
remainder of the family.

Since I just signed on to Ancestry I have a lot to learn. I miss being able
to look up a page number as well. On HeritageQuest we could look up any
page or do a "browse" of any county. I guess Ancestry might have a way to
do that but it is not apparent to me as yet. I will have more time in the
near future to devote to this.
Looks like this could be my Mary Mills living there but she would've only
been 6 instead of 7. But then we all know that isn't that unbelievable.
Again thanks,
Nancy

Wow, thanks. Is this a common procedure? To put images out of order?

Nancy,
Also, keep in mind you can enter state, county and township and the names
will all come up alphabetically.

.... district 516. How would I get the alphabetized list of those in that
district? Or if the list is of all in Philadelphia that would be even
better but I can't figure out how to do that. Thanks for your help.

I am guessing you are in the 1930 census. Go to the 1930 census. Enter
State: Pennsylvania; Enter County: Philadelphia; Enter Township:
Philadelphia; Enter Enumeration District: 516
this will bring up a listing of district 516 but it is not in alphabetical
order as I thought it would be. Sorry.

Now I see what you mean. I had been clicking on the state, county, etc. ...
not "enterring" it in the form. That cleared it up for me. That is
interesting.
Thanks,
Nancy
P.S. The "Uncle" reference was an attempt at my crying Uncle because I
couldn't find it. Sorry 'bout that.
