Hi all

1900-1910 .... my problem is what kind of uniform is it?

kicker is what appear to be captain's bars on the shoulder straps. As
well, the lack of any "brass" on the headgear, as you'd likely find in a
military or police/fire dress uniform, would seem to point, again, to some
sort of fraternal order. The question I'd ask is what fraternal
organizations were popular in that area at the turn of the centure?
Moose, Elk, Woodmen?

Re: What kind of uniform is it?
Thanks .... that was a clue .... I have scanned the picture again and the
medal has the letter UAOD. So I suspect it might be The United Ancient Order
of Druids or UAOD. I have looked for pictures to get it verified, but no
luck so far (looked at abt. 200 different webpages.....).
But thanks for the insight and help!

According to the one website

Why not try to find an old copy of this catalog for the
early 1900s and see if you can spot a similarity?
The website above has an online Museum (lots of interesting
pics) and they invite visitors to send pictures or items.
Why not send your picture and see if they can identify the
regalia?
I'd also check e-bay to see if any Druid regalia goes on
sale. You have the sword, the 'medal', the belt -- many
identifying items in that photo to help you.

Re: What kind of uniform is it?
It looks like the Ancient Order of Druids would be a good guess. I thought it
might be related to Knights Templar but I took a look at an old photo of a long
lost relative who was a Knight Templar and it's obviously different. Different
symbols, sash, scabbord, etc. The style looks similar tho.

No ictures of anyone in a uniform like that but you could ask them to
look at the picture.
