Sharon,

I am uncertain what you are looking for. I cannot find them in the 1870
census, but they do appear in the 1880 and 1900 censuses living in Aurora,
Illinois. The 1900 census indicates Susan(na) had no children. Following is
the census data. If you want the images let me know.

Have you tried the Illinois online marriage list here:
http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/depar ... html#about

It does include Kane County Marriage from 1836-1906 (according to
information on the site). It appears to be down at the moment but you might
try later.

Sharon,

I have tried once again to find a James Radcliffe and a Susanna Foster in
the 1860 census without success. I cannot find them after they married in
the 1870 census. In the 1900 census it shows both of them arrived in the US
in 1854 and they were naturalized. My only suggestion is to obtain a copy
of the Illinois marriage registration from Kane County which may include the
parents names or try to track down the naturalization papers.

Do you know if they returned to England after they married? It is
interesting to note there is a James and Susannah Radcliffe whose ages match
arriving in the U. S. in 1871. The following information provided:

New York Passenger Lists, 1851-1891
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Name Arrival Date Estimated Birth Year Gender Port of Departure Place of
Origin Destination Ship Name

James Radcliffe 29 Jan 1877 1830 Male Liverpool, England and Queenstown,
Ireland England United States of America Abyssinia

Susannah Radcliffe 29 Jan 1877 1834 Female Liverpool, England and
Queenstown, Ireland England United States of America Abyssinia

Source Information:
Ancestry.com. New York Passenger Lists, 1851-1891 [database online]. Provo,
Utah: MyFamily.com, Inc., 2003. Original data: New York. Passenger Lists of
Vessels Arriving at New York, New York, 1820-1897. Micropublication M237.
Rolls # 95-580. National Archives, Washington, D.C.

Don't think I can be of any further help but if you want me to try something
else let me know.

Yes, certainly a possibility - I have had a quick look on the 1871 - UK,
with no luck so far, but will keep trying.

Are there any earlier records of Susanna FOSTER arriving in USA? Maybe with
her family?

thanks heaps Mike,
kind regards,
Sharon

Sharon,

I had done a passenger search on both Susanna Foster and James Radcliffe
arriving around 1854 and the search was negative.
