Two persons in my Tree do appear in the passenger lists of Ellis Island:
- Jan Verret (official: Joannes) Born on November 9, 1882 at Antwerp -
Belgium and living in Merxem (or Merksem)- Belgium arrived in New York on
February 19,1901 by a boat named "Friesland". He's a son of Verret
Franciscus Josephus (1860-1906 Belgium) and Maria Catharina Brijdenbach
(1864 - )
- Frans Verret (official Franciscus Ludovicus) Born on March 9, 1890 at
Merxem (or Merksem) )- Belgium arrived in New York on May 16, 1910 by the
boat "Lapland". He is a brother of Jan.
The last one was accompanied by his mother, one brother and a sister
(Maria, Jozef and Maria), but those three returned to Belgium later on.
From both Jan and Frans I do not find any further records in Belgium With
the search functions in TMG I tried to find out more about the two (Jan and
Frans), which I suppose they immigrated in the USA.
As I cannot find further records after their arrival, I want to ask if
someone could do this in relation with their immigration, naturalization
marriage, event. children ...,I

Re: Look up for Verret
On the ship's manifest it says Jan was going to Norway, Michigan where his
Uncle, Jan De Domler, lived.
For Frans it says they are going to Chicago, Illinois where Jan Verret is
living. I found Jan, listed as John J. Verrett, in the 1910 census which I'm
sending by e-mail.
I can't find Jan or Frans in 1920.

Re: Look up for Verret
USA phone directory on the Net at http://www.infobel.com/usa finds three
Verret listings in Illinois, one of which is in Chicago.
It also finds no Verret listings in Michigan.
There are a lot of Verret listings in the US, so many that you must look by
state to locate them. However, a note to the Verrets in Illinois just might
help you in locating descendants.
Will look for further info as time allows.
Good luck.
