Where & how does the government get its info these days without door-to-door
canvassing?
Thanks,
Ephraim

For the 2,000 Census, they sent a form to our house with a pre-paid return
envelope. Additionally, I believe the forms were available at the Post
Office.

They send forms to every address with the authority to take the first
born of anyone who refuses to complete the form.

Seriously though they send out forms with the expectation the 'head'
will complete and return them and then they send out people to follow up
and persuade folks who don't return them. I don't think they use Vinnie
& Luigi any more!

I wonder how many modern day couples get into a fight about who's going to
be "Head". LOL!

Even then it doesn't always work <BG>

I appear on the 1961 and 2001 census only, none of the others - and
they didn't send Vinnie and Luigi round either.

When they came round in 1981 to hand me the census form, I told them I
wouldn't be home on census night. I was told to complete a form where
I would be; to which I replied that I didn't think they had forms in
the field where I'd be camping!! :))

I was marshalling a motor race meeting that weekend <G>

But note that they are not collecting the names of the family. They
are only interested in the numbers and other stats. In 72 years, you
will not be able to look at sheets like you do for the older census.
