NJ Birth search help?

Okay, I'm having fun doing a search for someone. My grandfather,
before he passed away, exposed a family secret that his aunt wasn't
actually his aunt but was his sister and she never knew it. I'm trying
to find her birth certificate to prove this one way or the other but
so far haven't had any luck.

In fact, her son, upon hearing this news said, "That explains quite a
bit. When she tried to get her birth certificate for social security,
the State couldn't find it. I've spent two full days at the State
Archives in Trenton without any luck. If you could only search by
mother's name or child's name, I'd feel better about this.

The child is Grace Ethel Krumm. She celebrated Dec 1 1912 as her
birthday, but the 1920 Census shows her age as 6, suggesting 1914 is
her actual birthday. She lived in Camden, NJ. We believe her parents
were Edna May Krumm and John Heimlich, not Florence and Charles Krumm.

The resemblance is also absolutely uncanny. She and my grandfather are
nearly twins, however, I am left to wonder if perhaps another man was
involved and perhaps the birth is under his name.

Complicating the matter is that Florence was a mid-wife and I've heard
that it would be easy for her to give birth and then avoid a birth
certificate.

Is there any hope or do I need to wait for the State to someday
provide better indexing or full database capabilities? I've searched
under Krumm and Heimlich (including all sorts of variant spellings).
Just being able to search 1912 and 1914 for Edna Krumm would suffice
but you can't.
