How can one find where a person died if the listing in the SSDI
doesn't list a location?

The SSDI does not show place of death. It may list last residence and/or
last place where benefits were paid. If you know the state, you can order a
death certificate. The Social Security Administration also does not
guarantee the accuracy of the information contained in the SSDI. The Social
Security Death Index is generated from the U.S. Social Security
Administrations Death Master File. The file is created from internal SSA
records of deceased persons possessing social security numbers and whose
deaths were reported to the SSA. Often this was done in connection with
filing for death benefits by a family member, an attorney, a mortuary, etc.
