Hi all,
I'm using version 11 of FTM. What is the newest version and what else is
in it? Would it be worth the upgrade?
Thanks,
Ephraim

If you decide to give it ago please ensure that you have Backup GEDComs
that you can go back to if you decide to bail out of version 2005 as
some out there have experienced some major hassles in going back to
Version 11, plus it is always a good practice to Back up your Data as
you never know when your hard drive will fail.
Personal I am sick of the Learning company expecting one to shell out
hard earnt money virtually every six months or every year on each up
grade, especially when one compares what happens with Legacy.
Yes I am a happy convert to Legacy and yes we do get up dates and
generally every three months or there abouts and all free, and thats one
of the reasons I went with the Deluxe version.
It is only with major a new version that we have the option of paying to
stay with the Deluxe version or one can go with the standard version
that is Free.
You do have options and it is your chioce.
Hope this helps.
David.

A couple months ago I pointed out a problem to Legacy about one of their
Reports. The next day I got an email saying they had duplicated the problem
but the cause was evading them. The next day I got an email saying they had
found the source and were putting in a fix. Two weeks later the fixt was
included in one of their free updates..
From FTM you would get an offer (eventally) to buy the latest version.

If you look at the FTM web site, it tells you what the changes are, then you
can decide for yourself if you want them. I have 2005 and am very happy with
it, but I upgraded from ver 9 - I tend to upgrade every 3-4 versions, when
they come up with something I want (in this case, I much prefer the new
layout of the main screen). There's no rule that says you have to get every
upgrade.

2005 (which possibly looks better to their PR people than ver 13).

Re: Family Tree Maker
That happened quite a long time ago. It involved handling of multiple
paths to an individual.
Anyway, the lastest update is Version 5.0.0.173
Build Date of 26 October 2004.
There you go!! There have been 17 "free" updates" since Version 5 came out
(18 November 2003)!!
I think the update from Version 4 to 5 cost $15.
