Mac program
Sorry I'm sure this has been covered many times but it is new to me. I have
a PC and use PAF. I just came across a distant cousin who has a Mac. She
wants to get a genealogy program but isn't sure of which one. She has heard
of Leister. I don't know anything about any of the Mac programs. Can someone
point me in the right direction please?

I like to joke with MAC users and tell them to repent and get a PC....
But seriously, my friends who use MACs talk about a program called REUNION.
They like it.

Leister's "Reunion" software is _excellent_. It's worth buying a Mac so
you can use it. Talks nice with files exported from PAF, as well. Haven't
tried back, because I stopped using PAF when I got the Mac and Reunion, but
I'd be surprised by problems. Their support is excellent, the program
doesn't crash, ever, and the workflow is efficient and intuitive.
My mom, who is _very_ uncomfortable with techie things, can use it.

Leister's Reunion. Best program out there for the Mac. Have her download
the demo version. Very limited but will give an idea how it lays out.

When you do purchase, you don't have to start over, just register and go

When asked about best program for PC's you will usually hear people say
they use several for no one does everything. I have heard no one using
Reunion for Macintosh say that.

The problem I have as a FTM 2005 user is with the reports, rather than the

I want to use. What would be REALLY great would be FTM 2005 that would
allow me to use the MS Access or Crystal Reports report writer to create my
own custom reports.

Seriously, when ROOTS came out ca 1985, it was the only game in town and
the only complaint I heard about it was its price. Then PAF came out at
a fraction of the price, and suddenly, it had better features than
ROOTS. Until Brothers Keeper got a following, and from there on, it's
been a different program for each task one wants to do.
