Sir John Patrick Neville

I've been told that my great grandmother's (Loretta Isabel Neville) great,
great uncle was Sir John Patrick Neville. I don't know anything about him
except he was from the U.K., problably England, and that he would have lived
in the 1700 early 1800's. Can anyone steer me in the direction I need to
go to find our more information? I did a google search with no luck.
Thanks in advance for you help.

There is a web site for the College of Arms for Great Britain:
http://www.college-of-arms.gov.uk/

Unfortunately, there isn't a listing of everyone who's ever been
knighted, but there is a contact section, and you could e-mail them to
see if there was a Sir John Patrick Neville. They might not be able to
tell you anything more than a yes or no, but either answer would help
you one way or another.

While trying to find a listing of knights during the time period that
you mention, I did find a site called British Origins. It's a subsriber
service, but seems to have online access to some interesting materials,
so it might be worth checking out.

Some of these records might be available through the GenWeb network
and/or GENUKI, but with that, you really need to know where in England a
person was from.

good luck,

Cathy

Yeah, that's about all the information I have on him though, and that is but
a family legend/story. However, it is a family legend/story that my great
grandmother believed strongly in before she died in 1967. Thanks for the
links, I'll give them a try.
