New website online

Legg inn av Blacksheep Ancestors » 22 nov 2004 02:41:02

Hi everyone

I just started a new website called Blacksheep Ancestors. It's a
Directory of Links for Prison & Convict Records, Court Records,
Executions, Famous Outlaws, Bandits & Criminals. The locations are USA
and Canada

It's at http://blacksheepancestors.com/

I also have Reward Posters for outlaws and criminals, and more to
come. If you have a Blacksheep ancestor (or think you might have) be
sure to check this site out.

Because it's new there might be some glitches but I'll get better as I
go along. I'm planning to get more records of prisoners and other
institutional records in the 19th and 20th centuries as time allows.

Someone already started one a couple of years ago -- perhaps you should have
checked before duplicating their efforts.

What's wrong with a little competition? Maybe one will cover something the
other misses?

Great point. I don't think the guy who first wrote this
about duplicating someone else's efforst bothered to check
the new site before writing to the list.

I went to http://www.lightage.demon.co.uk/

It's for Blacksheep Ancestors in the UK. It's user
submissions.

I went to http://blacksheepancestors.com/

It's for Blacksheep Ancestors in N. America. It's a
directory of links. It has some resources (FBI wanted
posters) and says it will be getting more

(I don't see any duplication of efforts there, maybe
someone just had a crabby day?)

I also went to http://blacksheep.rootsweb.com/

It's another site for Blacksheep ancestors, very well done,
and done differently than Site 1 or Site 2 above.

Isn't it great that there are THREE sites specializing in
this - each of them with different resources and covering
different areas!

Researchers with a blacksheep ancestor or two can count
themselves lucky :-)
