HISTORY OF U.S. NAVAL FIGHTING SHIPS

Legg inn av Bud » 16 nov 2004 23:29:45

Hi,
I have been envolved in researching U.S. Naval Warship History for many
years. While compiling information about Warships, Liberty ships, and a few
related warship subjects, I then posted a Web Site
http://www.angelfire.com/in/shiphistory/ of some of my writings on what I
have found to be of interest.
I wish to offer any of my information on U.S. Naval Warships to all that
could use any part of it in their genealogy research. I will also offer to
research a vessel for you, and e-mail, snail mail, or fax the results to
you.
I do not nor will I request any money for this completely "free" offer. My
feeling is I do this as a hobby....and I get great enjoyment out of
"offering it to whomever request it".
Now I don't set here and wish you to think I "know it all"...because I
don't.....but if you have a question, or wish a "shiphistory"
....hey!!!...just give me a shout and I'll do my best to answer your question
or provide the information....and the source of that information if you so
wish......Completely free for the asking.
You can, if you so wish, visit my web site....I have some interesting...(I
believe it to be anyway) ...material to read....or if you'd like to e-mail
me direct that would be good also..... mailto:cshortridge@comcast.net

I would enjoy hearing from you

Hey Bud...

If you use your search engine and type in...

http://www.history.navy.mil/danfs/h3/harvest_queen.htm

You'll find a brief history of a Navy vessel that was once owned by my
great grandfather. They've mispelled his name, which was John N.
Briggs, of Coeymans, NY. Not exactly a battleship, but I guess it
served its purpose in the Navy.

Originally, it was an excursion barge that transported customers for
his amusement park at Barena Park, on Baeren Island, about 13 miles
south of Albany in the Hudson River.

Just thought you'd like to have your history made complete! :}

Hey......always looking and interested in reading about "any" type of
"ships" especially from someone like yourself that had "personal knowledge"
and "family contact".
On occassion a family may send me a "personal daily journal" from WW II, of
a family member that served on board a fighing ship, and that also is so
very, very interesting.
So....all the stories, information, personal journals, and tid bits of info
that is offered to me I gratefully appreciate....that is one of the
reasons...I never, ever charge any fee of any type for my research, my
material, that I offer to whomever request it.

So....I say again...........Thank you, I appreciate you taking the time to
point out that material...
