Found in the 1920 Census Knox. Co. TN on Bertrand rd
Richard Hensley and Sarah
house occupants were Mary(hensley) and Joe Clark

Richard was about 47 then

The question then becomes: Can you look back into several Censii(?) and
find where he was prior to 1920?

What I do know( or think I know):

Union County(TN) is a possible connection to family, as is KY and WV.

I do appreciate any effort that you invest in this.

Here's a possibility for his parents. It's the 1880 Union Co, TN census from
the LDS site http://www.familysearch.org

Was Richard in the army? In 1900 there's a 27 year old Pvt. Richard Hensley
in the Phillipines Military census. His place of birth looks like
Maynidsville, TN which is similar to Maynardville in Union Co.

I can't find Richard in 1910.

Well, I can't find him positively in 1900 or 1920. The closest matches I can
find are in a military prison in the Philippines in 1900 and then in Folsom
Prison in 1910. I think I found a good possibility in 1880 though. There's a
Floyd Henslay in Union CO. TN with a daughter Louella, age 11 and a son,
Richard, age 8 (among other children). In 1930 Richard and Sarah have a
daughter, Katherine McPhetridge, living with them along with a grandson,
Floyd, and a granddaughter, Louella, possibly named after their grandfather
and aunt? Sorry I couldn't find anything concrete. Here's some of the
possibly matching records I found. Maybe they'll be of use somewhere down
the road.
