continuing family charts

When I first started using a computer for genealogy I had a program
called, (I think), "My Family Record." It was pretty rudimentary
compared to programs today; just got "Family Tree Maker 2005" but what
I liked especially about it was that I could put in a name, (ex.
myself) and it would make continuing family tree sheets out to my most
distant ancestor. Each name on a sheet would be numbered and you could
follow a line because the number of the oldest ancestors on sheet one
would be number 1 on another sheet starting with that ancestor. Is
there any thing like this available today?

Thanks,
Ken

Every genealogy program I have seen (and the best I can recall) had the
feature you are speaking of. It's hard to believe FTM doesn't. I suspect
it's probably an option that you need to turn on somewhere in the
"Print" screen.

Check FTW's HELP file for "cascading pedigree" or look for a similar
option in the print menus.

I'm using FTW9 and haven't found a reason to upgrade. In that program
you can define a book which can have several different items, one of
which is a tree which starts at a given ancestor and places a reasonable
number of ancestors on a page so that it's legible. Each top level
ancestor on a given page has an attached reference to the page at which
the continuation of the tree from that point can be found.
