Looking for the census image for Anthony Doemer and his wife Anna Elizabeth
Reneneiufer. He was born in 1818, in Germany and immigrated to Michigan,
probably Wayne County, sometime before 1856, he died in 1865. She was born
in 1824, also in Germany. They are both Buried at Mount Elliot Cemetery,
Detroit, Michigan. They had children when they came to the U.S., and had at
least two more sons after settling in the Detroit Area. Your help on this
is greatly appreciated. The 1860 and/or 1850 Census would be great.

Thanks!

Jim.

Jim, Can't find them in 1850/1860. Do you know the name of their children?

Yes.. Two of their children were Anthony, and John, and you already looked
them up for me. They were in the 1900/1910 Census. They had more children,
but I don't know their names. Anthony was born in 1856, and John was born
in 1859. They were both born in Michigan. (According to the 1900, 1910
census.) Anthony and Anna Elizabeth arrived in the U.S. with some older
children though.

Oh, another thing you might try is dropping the "e" from Doemer when you
search. It may have been spelled Döemer in German.

If you look at the census image I believe it says Prussia. PreuBen may be
the transcribers interpretation.

The thing that looks like a 'b' in the word is how they wrote out the

double 's'.

Prussia was a separate kingdom, that no longer exists. This site has a
link to more Prussian information and also mentions where you can now
find various parts of the kingdom:

http://www.rootsweb.com/~wggerman/state.htm

In later census years, people who were at one time listed as being from
Prussia can often be found listed as being from Hanover, then Germany.
I'm not sure what guidelines the enumerators used for determining just
where in Europe a person was from.

Hope that site helps,

Cathy
