I am searching for a grand-aunt who was born on Jåsund in Sola. Her name is
Grete Maria Jonsdr. and she was born on 26 June 1841. She married Lars
Nilsen Våge in Sola parish, 1863, and the book "Gard og ætt i Sola" states
she moved to the city of Stavanger. I cannot locate her in the 1865 or 1900
Census and find no further trace of her. I would be very grateful for any
information about her if it is available. Thanks!

Hi Inger Helene,
Thank you very much for the information. Do you know what "lætmatros" for
child Gustav Larsen (in 1900) means? Was this a child of Lars and Alette?
I appreciate your reply to my post.

Hi Michael,
Gustav was Lars' son, but I can't say if Alette
was his mother. He could have been Grethe's son,
if this indeed is the right family. The reason I
couldn't find any of them in 1875, is surely that
the 1875 census for Stavanger isn't online yet.
Lætmatros = lettmatros is a sailor in the
commercial fleet with at least 24 months service.
The word consists of two parts, lett and matros.
Lett means light, and I believe that the
lettmatros is less experienced than the matros.
