Emigrantprotokoller question
I have done research on my family (and others) that came from Norway. It has been a number of years and I wanted to do more searching on Emigrantprotokoller from Oslo and other cities for another family but I can't seem to find a link to the data base I used.
Trying to find information about a Maren (Johane) Olsdatter or Maren (Johane) Grimsrod from Valer, Ostfold in 1884. She would have had 3 or 4 children (Inga, Syverine, Edvart, Hans) with her as her husband emigrated in 1883. I found him in the Svindal, Valer, Ostfold church Udflyttede records but would like to see if I can find him as well in the Emigrantprotokoller.
I think they would leave from Oslo (Kristiania).
If you have a link or way of finding out where/when they left Norway (not church record but Emigrantprotokoller!!), it would be much appreciated.
Sincerely,
David Vinge

Re: Emigrantprotokoller question
Would this be 'your' Johannes Syvertsen Grimsrød ?

Re: Emigrantprotokoller question
Yes, that is him.
Looking, for his wife and children leaving in 1884 but am having trouble locating them.
Maren Olsdatter, is wife, born in 1838; children are Inga Mathilde, b. 29 Sep 1875; Syverine in 10 Apr 1877; Edvart in 18 Feb 1879 and Hans in 12 Apr 1881.
All born in Våler, Ostfold with parents living at the farm Grimsrud: Grimsrød or variation.
The other system seemed to work so much better but maybe my non-Norwegian understanding is even worse now.
Thanks for any assistance.

Re: Emigrantprotokoller question
Thank you so much.
But I was wondering if you could let me know what website, what inputs you put in which fields you used, so I can better search myself.
I appreciate your time and efforts!!
Thanks, again,

Re: Emigrantprotokoller question
You can try this search from the new Digitalarkivet website:
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/search ... =&sort=rel
If you press the "funnel" icon on the upper right side, you can change the search criteria as you like.
Best regareds,
Matthias

Re: Emigrantprotokoller question
David,
My MO in this particular case was to go to the 'old' DA(DigitalArkivet) website that I've kept the link to
http://gda.arkivverket.no/cgi-win/WebMeta.exe?spraak=e
and via the search box 'Source category' pick 'Emigrants' and from 'Sub-category' choose 'Registers' followed by the database 'Emigrants from Kristiania 1867-1927 addition'. The rest is more or less self-explanatory , i.e. Year = 1884 and I chose Inga as 'given name' because that name was a little less common than Maren or Hans.
One may also use the new DA search site
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/
and choose 'Find source', then 'Emigrant registers' from the drop down list and pick Oslo from the Østlandet region in the 'Geography' colomn, followed by 'Search source' from the same db as mentioned above. Beware, the search syntax is a bit different compared to the 'old' DA version !
I'd suggest you follow Matthias' MO, which gives you all the members of the travelling party you're searching for listed at once. You get there by choosing 'Advanced person search' from the new DA site.
