More information about the Blix family of Bodø and Skjerstad

Legg inn av 74916 » 18. mai 2016 kl. 10.58

Dear DIS-Norge,

Here is an update on our genealogical research findings in English. If you access the blixbok website below looking at the specific pages that have been identified and linked to eight generations of the Blix family you can read the original text in Norwegian.

I would like to hear from anyone who finds these paragraphs of interest.

My email address: michael.pomerantz44@gmail.com

This is a database built up by pasting new text under the headings of the key 8 Blix ancestors associated with Bodø and Skjerstad. The italicized text has been translated from Norwegian by Google Translate and therefore cannot be interpreted as completely reliable. Note how spellings vary. This suggests I should recheck sources like DORA with new spellings.

It was found here: http://www.kgroenha.net/Klara/blixbok.doc

This book was located by Arnfred Nilsen (a relative of ours) who is a GENi family tree site manager.

In bilge accounts in 1607 called him Lauritsalan Blix, but even he did not seem to have spent some lineages. Death 7/12 1629. The wife Gullog Mogensdatter died 7/12 1629 (?). Lauritsalan should have a brother Nils Mogens Son Blix.

Hans Lauritzen Blix (1596-1666) (He was my 8th great grandfather, Pastor to Bodø and Provost of Salten; we have located his tombstone. Can anyone tell us about other Blix family tombstones?)

Page 15:
60.III.2. His Lauritsson Blix, born in 1596 in Jämtland. Immatrikkulert at Copenhagen University 2/7 (2/10?) 1617. Some sources state 11/5 1615. He received the royal letter of 10/3 1619 permission to be chaplain with his father in Rodon that of favor because his father had been faithful against Norway during the war. In 1622, he was 26 years old was appointed parish priest in California, one of Nordland's calling, so the royal favor, he has evidently preserved. He became provost in 1641 in Salten. Died in 1666, buried 4/7. He was one of the wealthiest and most prominent priests in Nordland in the 1600s. His fortune was by northern Norwegian conditions very big. he ran a bigger fish, owned 14 warehouses and boathouses at Bodøsjøen. He had several cargo vessels and let clean jektsett there. On Hundholmen he had a larger boathouse. Where he ran a brisk trade. He donated to Bodin Church among others a brass chandelier with eight arms and the altarpiece is in the church today. He was also in feud with bilge gentleman Pren von Ahnen about the boundaries between the properties.
Married with Ingeborg Svendsdatter born in 1603, died in 1688 in California. She lived as a widow on Kvalnes (Kvalvik?). She was possibly the daughter of Svend Son, bailiff in Værdal, later mayor of Trondheim, died 12/4 1627. Portrait of spouses hangs in Bodin Church. His portrait has the inscription: "Natus 1596. Ætalus 58. Denatus 1666". Her portrait having inscription "Ætalus 51". When the images are painted ca. 1654, must information about his death being inflicted ago. In the churchyard is a beautifully finished and very well preserved tombstone with figure relief of Hans Laurits Son Blix and subsequent signature: "Here lies Mr. Hans Lauritson Blix Sogn Lord both GIELDA och Provista offver Salten Lehn born och stretcher anno 1596 och in Lord hensoffvet saligen anno 1666" (Norwegian art history In page 366 and 381).

Hans L. Blix has kirkehusregnskapene from 1652 in his seal double snake on a pole. In Salten church accounts from 1658, he has a seal with a meandering snake in the shield and the helmet a bird with the letters H. L. B. He wife confirms the correctness of the inventory for Bodo rectory 17/8 1666 (census) "with its blissful mandtz customary segnete".

The wife discussed in besiktighetsforretning of Inndyr hofviltgård 20/4 1684 as "wife Ingeborrig Svendsdatter regarding it by his grandson Hans His Son Blixencrone led weapon a being curbed horse's head in the shield and helmet." It is believed that this weapon is derived from his wife's family. Wind after his marriage (N.S.H.II.102). Blixencrone had used the same weapon for many years before he was concerned, the nobility. This can be seen by Rentekammersets journal issues from 1693. The same weapons are also used by his fasts, Alhed His Daughter's son Lieutenant Lars Morten Son Blix in Bergen, likewise of Blixencxrona cousin, Mentz Mogens Son Blix Jelsa 1730. Colonel Sten Blix led a weapon in the shield -a savage a face with applied stick in his right hand, and on the helmet a half savage - profile with stick covered with both hands on the right shoulder. It has not been ascertained from what family he has this. Sten Blix's son, Johan Fredrik who died as a colonel in Elverum in 1787, also used this weapon.

The office of Hans Blix L. includes Bodin, Skjerstad, Fauske, Folden and Saltdal. Churches served by chaplains who lived on the church site. Hans L. Blix led a long process with the governor about the boundaries of their farms. There was a stream between the properties and Petter Dass writes:

"Where I see a priest and a noble man to be the nearest neighbors. One velbyrdig, the other vellærd, so we see that the Lord and Giedons sword, a little with each other beblander".

Hans Blix L. owned acc. Jordbok these farms:
Fenes, Landego 2 VOG, in Selnes 1 VOG, in Cluster 1 pound and 12 mark, Seine 2 VOG, Naurstad in Skjerstad 2 VOG, 1 pound and 12 mark, Medby (Melby?) 1 pound 12 mark, Throat in Skjerstad 2 pounds , Vens 1 VOG 1 pound 12 mark, Hundholmen 1 pound, Kletang in Skjerstad 1 pound, Haug 1 pound 12 mark, North Arnøy 1 pound 12 mark.
