Morken

I am looking for the Morken farm in the local parish of Vik in Fosnes but have not been able to find it. I have tried to locate the surrounding farms but have not had any success. Do you have any suggestions?

There is a Morken gård in Flatanger in Nord-Trøndelag. Flatanger was part of Fosnes back in time. Unfortuneately I am about to move, so all my books are packed away so I can't check it and tell you what farms are nearby.

Here is a map mof Flatanger and I wonder if the farm you are looking for is written as Mork here.
You can see Namsos all the way to the right and slightly below to the left you see Tøttdal.
Just to the right of Tøttdal you see Saltnes and below that Mork

You have a last name that I recongnize and wonder if we are related.

Most of the Schavland/Skavland are related, descending from Ole Schavland a parish priest in Strand, Rogaland. I think he had a son and a brother who were parish priests...They all used the Schavland name. What is your connection?

Most of the Skavlans/Schavland's ancestry starts in Snåsa in Nord-Trøndelag. Is your Parish priest born around 1759 and married to a Siri Tostensdtr? The oldest one I have on that line is Ola Olsen Skavlan b abt 1560 in Snåsa and Beret Einarsdtr b abt 1570.

I am a descendent of Ole and Siri's daughter Karen. Yes, Ole came from Snåsa and Siri from Høle in Rogaland. He was the parish priest in Strand, Rogaland. I was born in Stavanger.

Are you a descendent from one of the other children or a descendent of one of Ole's siblings?

Morken is probably the farm Anne points out, in Tøttdal. This is just the other side of the fjord to Otterøya island and Vik church.

What is the names of your ancestors from there? Maybe we have some in common…
