Wingetrœn farm in Leksvik

Legg inn av dn09189 » 22. mars 2009 kl. 15.01

My ancestors came from this farm which was changed to Vinnan in the last half of the 19th century, I believe.
My nephew was asking what does it mean. The Vinge family translation to English was "wings" but not sure if that is accurate. So, I thought I would ask here.
If there is any information you can add to this, about the farm, I would be greatly appreciative.
Peder Andersen Wingetrœn born on 13 Sept 1933 at Wingetrœn and baptised on 24 Nov 1833.
Rotabakks, Rotsvolls, Holaas (Helaas), Hjellupvik, Wiken, Balvold are some of the farm names that Peder's siblings lived at later in the 1800's and 1900's and might be distantly related!!
Anyone with those last names that would like to contact me, please use the personal email route here on disnorge.no. I would very much like to know more about the distant relatives.
Thanks,
David Vinge

Vinnan, (Winge is probably danish way of spelling) is probably a form of "vin", which means something like a natural meadow or plain, and "træn" means narrow. (I used Oluf Rygh. Norske Gaardsnavne, Wikipedia and google to find out)
