Olava Olsdattesr Saeter

I'm looking for information on Olava Olsdatter Saeter. She married John Christoffersen Stoum. Olava's parents were Ole Olesen Saeter and Randi Simonsdatter. I'm trying to find the relationship between this Olava and my oldemor Ane Sophie Olsdatter Seater the daughter of Ole Vincentsen Saeter. All of these families immigrated to near Sioux City, Iowa and eventually settled along the same stream valley in South Dakota.
Thanks for your help.

You did not mention any timeframe, and I find one matching Olava who was christened in Vår Frues kirke in Trondheim 4 September 1781, daughter of Ole Olssen and Randie Simonsdatter

No. 39
SAT, Ministerialprotokoller, klokkerbøker og fødselsregistre - Sør-Trøndelag, 602/L0104: Ministerialbok nr. 602A02, 1774-1814, s. 54-55

She is probably too old, but maybe a distant ancestor?

I found the wedding between Olava Olsdatter Sæter and Johan Christophersen Stoum (both age 24) in Rissa, 18 July 1848, no. 7:
SAT, Ministerialprotokoller, klokkerbøker og fødselsregistre - Sør-Trøndelag, 646/L0611: Ministerialbok nr. 646A09, 1848-1857, s. 211

Here they are in the 1865 census at Stodum in Stadsbygd:
https://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/f ... 8314005228
Both are born in Stadsbygd, which suggests Olava was born at the Sæter farm in Rissa, Stadsbygd

Here is her christening in Rissa, 19 April 1824, born 1 April 1824, no. 27 (right side)
SAT, Ministerialprotokoller, klokkerbøker og fødselsregistre - Sør-Trøndelag, 646/L0608: Ministerialbok nr. 646A06, 1816-1825, s. 39
Brukslenke for sidevisning: https://media.digitalarkivet.no/kb20070905660214
Her parents were Ole Olsen Sæter and Ingeborg Rasmusdatter.

The other couple, Ole Andreas Wincentzen Sæter (b.1811) and Randig Simonsdatter Næss (b.1809) married on 15 November 1837 in Bjugn, Ørland
No. 27:
SAT, Ministerialprotokoller, klokkerbøker og fødselsregistre - Sør-Trøndelag, 659/L0735: Ministerialbok nr. 659A05, 1826-1841, s. 399
Brukslenke for sidevisning: https://media.digitalarkivet.no/kb20050511030259

This couple had several children between 1838 and 1855, including the one who must be your great grandmother Ane Sophia 30 December 1846, Christened 11 April 1847, no. 29:
SAT, Ministerialprotokoller, klokkerbøker og fødselsregistre - Sør-Trøndelag, 659/L0736: Ministerialbok nr. 659A06, 1842-1856, s. 145-146
Brukslenke for sidevisning: https://media.digitalarkivet.no/kb20050607010686

For the last couple, Sæter refers to the Sæter farm in Bjugn, Ørland, so there is not necessarily a connection between the two families.
I have not found the Wincentzen family in the 1865 census, so maybe they had already emigrated to the U.S. at this point?

The Stoum-family emigrated 29 April 1869 according to emigration records in Norway

tusin tak Mathias: This is good information. The Stoum family immigrated the same year, 1869, as my oldefar Magnus Larsen Tiltrum and his wife Ane Sophie Olsdatter Saeter. My great Uncle Johan Christian Larsen married Christine Stoum in 1874,four years after he arrived in the U.S.. We gave up the name Tiltrum or Tiltrem when Magnus arrived in the U.S. Johan was 20 years older than Christine and they had about 7 children. All of these families settled in the same county (Union county) South Dakota.
