LARS HANSEN
Lars was born May 14, 1873 in Jevnaker, Oppland Norway (50KM north of Oslo).
Lars was the youngest and only boy in the family.
Lars sisters included Karen Pauline Hansdatter (born 1856), Ann Marie Hansdatter (born 1861) and Lise Mathea Hansdatter (born 1867).
After some education and leaving his family, he ended up working as a paper engineer in Sarpsborg, Norway.
Lars married Marie Gunhilde Olsen from Fredrikstad (70KM south of Oslo and close to Sarpsborg). Født 03.03.1877
Lars had 4 boys in Norway, Hjalmer Gerhardt (born 1899), Rolf Marcus (born 1902), Lorentz (born 1902) and Torolf (born 1905).
Somewhere between 1900 and 1907, Lars Hansen changed his name to Lars Loken.
In 1907, the Loken family left Norway, went to Liverpool in the United Kingdom, to board the S.S.Cedric on August 1, 1907.
After a 7 day journey at sea, the Loken family was processed at Ellis Island in New York, NY.
In Ellis Island they had $30.00 to there name and records showed Lars was 5' 3.5'' tall and Marie was 5' 4.75'' tall.
From Ellis Island, the S.S. Cedric continued to Boston, so the family could join up with Lars's father-in-law Gunnerius Olsen in Berlin Ward 3, Coos, New Hampshire.
In Coos, New Hampshire a daugther Randy Mary was born in 1909.
The Loken family moved to La Tuque, Quebec some time after 1910.

Lars Hansen's father and mother were Hans Paulsen (born 1811, died 1874) in Jevnaker, Oppland, Norway and married Helene Rebekka Hansdatter (born 1856)
Lars most likely took the name Loken from the small town in Norway (Loken Aurskog-Holand). This village is due west of Oslo and north of Sarpsborg, likely a place where they may have vacationed or went to a cottage. The village is a reknown place for outdoor fishing and game hunting.
