Grandmother Hjordis crossed the ocean twice in her emigration to America: as a 16 yr old on the Hellig Olav leaving Christiansand 24/3/1906 and again as a 20 yr old on the Cedric sailing from Liverpool on 13/11/1909.

My assumption is that she had gone back to Norway to (1) seek approval for her marriage and/or (2) say goodbye to her parents before marrying my Grandfather and moving to the Dakotas.

Would there be any record of when and how she sailed from America to Norway between 1907 and 1909?

This is her emigration in 1909 - she travelled from Stavanger.

And from Kristiansand 1906

Thank you very much - those are, indeed, the two trips across the big pond that Grandma took. I am also wondering if there is any record of the trip she took to get from America back to Norway between 1906 and 1909. I don't know when she did that nor how long she stayed in Norway before coming back to America in 1909.

Oh, also, one more question: I'm having trouble translating Hjordis's occupation shown as "F.rørlægger" and the remarks "FOR AT TJENE MER.SøKTE SOM"
Did she work on the ship to help pay for her passage?

And on the 1909 passage what does "Tjenestepike" and "Liten fortjeneste" mean?
Thanking you in advance for your time and translation.
Best regards, Margie.
